Chaldon Herring is a quiet farming community sitting within easy reach of the cliffs and coves of the Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site. The village is full of pretty thatched cottages and home to a well-regarded local pub, the Sailor’s Return which serves great food from Wednesday to Sunday lunchtime and hosts a woodfired pizza van during the summer months.

We’re less than a mile across the fields to a beautiful stretch of the South West Coast Path and from there, a short distance on to Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. Further afield is Kimmeridge, Studland with miles of sandy beaches, Weymouth, Swanage, Corfe Castle, Hardy’s cottage, Bridport, Abbotsbury and so much more.

  • The front garden immediately outside the Sheep Shed is shared with the owner’s 18th century cottage and is accessed through a joint front gate. The terrace is dedicated for guest use and is not at all overlooked from the owner’s house.
  • It’s only a two minute walk to the village pub, The Sailor’s Return
  • There is a village shop & farm shop available in the neighbouring village, a short drive away
  • Footpaths from the village lead straight up onto the South West Coast Path

Sorry, we don’t accept dogs.

Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is at 10am via lock-box .
(Later checkout can be arranged subject to availability.)

Price start from £120 / night and there is a minimum two-night stay.
